Duck Races ‘17 …the fastest fundraiser in Kismet- Theater Scene New York Broadway Review

For over a decade now, the Duck Races have been the fastest fundraiser in Kismet!
The Kismet Fire Department held the event Sunday morning , August 13th. Both Sam Wood and Cody Baker worked behind the scenes to create the Duck 'run' and hold the children's and adult races.
In one hour and seven races, the Duck Races raised just over $2500.(Yes, that's remarkable.)

Our MC and ace announcer, Frank Boulton was able to provide play by play and color as each of the rubber duckies made the way down the pool. Frank also generously donated the prizes that attracted the interest of our community: from duck quackers to bobbleheads to the mega prizes of Long Island Ducks tickets and the coveted Luxury Suite evening at Duck Stadium.
The final race was won by the ever lucky Paul Barbara. He seemed to have the right touch (and the deep pockets) to win the 50/50. He also made a significant donation to the KFD from his winnings!
The children's races were a mixed bag of winners with one visiting kiddie snagging 1st and 3rd in one race- go Madison O'Connor.

The duck selling tables were ably staffed by Kellie Bertucci, Danielle Bellmare, Rusty and Judi Phelan, Jen Mandel, Chris Rosenblum with the prizes table armed by Rose Liotta and Dana de Ruver. Our ticket sellers, Janet Lockie and Linda Nowacheck brought some order to the fast- paced race fever.
Thanks too go to Karen Spollen, Emma Carew, Caitrin Crawson, Brooke Lambie, Teagan Baker, Casey Cole, Casey Licari, Grace Wood for helping get the word out, and the fliers.
KFD members also made sure the styling grey KFD shirts were sold. (The new addition of a soft woman's hoodie is a big hit!)
Lastly and not least my partner in duckdom , Rudy Gerlich, gets a callout for making sure the duck supply and all stages of the event planning happen.
